About Research in Nigeria (RIN)
Research in Nigeria (RIN) is a platform dedicated to promoting research and international collaboration within Nigerian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Our mission is encapsulated in our name—it's a two-way call to action. On one hand, we showcase Nigerias remarkable research achievements to Nigerians and the world. On the other, we invite individuals and organizations from around the globe to engage in research activities within Nigeria.
Our Ambitious Goals
Our ambitions soar high; getting to the moon is only a starting point for us. The Research in Nigeria project comprises four key components that drive our objectives:
1. International Programmes in Nigeria (IPN) -
This is an information platform that highlights internationally recognized degree programmes offered by Nigerian HEIs. These programmes, at the bacehlors, master's and doctoral levels, are conducted by institutes or departments within Nigerian higher education institutions acknowledged as Centers of Excellence in various fields of study. These Programmes receive prestigious recognitions and support from organisations like the World Bank, African Development Bank, ERASMUS, African Union, European Union (EU), ECOWAS, the Nigerian government, and major government institutions like the Central Bank of Nigeria, Nigerian Universities Commission, and TETFUND. The centers on the other hand receive substantial financial investments for their setup and continued advancement.2. Academic/Research Events and Jobs in Nigeria’s Higher Education Landscape:-
We provide a comprehensive listing of academic, professional association and research events, job and career opportunities, and innovation-related activities in Nigeria’s higher education landscape. Additionally, we cover activities happening in Nigeria, across Africa, and worldwide that have connections with Nigeria's or Africa’s higher education system, professional networks, research, and innovation ecosystem. Our platform serves as a one-stop destination to explore and engage with all these valuable resources.3. Brain Gain Initiatives: -
As part of our Brain Gain Initiative, the Visiting Scholar Program (VSP) facilitates research and academic stays in Nigerian HEIs. This program is designed to match scholars of Nigerian descent living abroad and scholars from around the world interested in conducting research stays in Nigeria. These stays can range from half a semester (three months) or longer, based on available opportunities. To apply for the Visiting Scholar Program, please fill out this form.
